Growing and developing the whole person through the principles of Te Aho Matua is our key focus at TKKM o Hoani Waititi Marae.

We do this through passion teaching and learning.

Our students complete programmes of learning that align to their passions and interests while obtaining qualifications to support them into further study and employment as strong and resilient adults secure in their identity.

Te Aho Matua values and principles underpin all of our learning and activities. Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori are embedded across all learning and activities.

Students learn life-skills in addition to our tailored programmes of learning; making, spending and saving money, business concepts, communication skills, self-care, relationship navigation, planning and organising skills, kai and hauora.

In Kura Tuatahi our tamariki are nurtured and loved. They are guided through various learning concepts; numeracy, literacy, waiata, pepeha, sciences and hītori always through the lens of mātauranga Māori.

At Wharekura, our tauira undertake programmes of learning that weave together standards across subject areas. We contextualise our programmes to cater to our resources, industry need, tikanga Māori, kaupapa Māori, student passion and kaiako passion. Our programmes of learning align to transition beyond kura into further study or training and/or into employment opportunities.

Every student that leaves TKKM o Hoani Waititi Marae leave fluent in our Reo, with a drivers license, a minimum of NCEA Level 2 and the skills and ability to be successful in their chosen fields.

In our 33rd year, TKKM o Hoani Waititi Marae continues to strive for excellence and aims to be innovators in the education of our future generations of leaders.

Te Kura Kuapapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae stands as a beacon for the values of Te Aho Matua for our students, our Titi Raukura and our whānau whānui.

Once you are Hoani Waititi you are forever Hoani Waititi.

Ka tae rawa koe ki Waititi ka noho whānau koe mō ake tonu

Our teachers are passionate, competent and energetic about the subjects they teach.

Currently, every teacher is fluent in te reo Māori. The holistic wellbeing of each child is at the very centre of teaching and learning.

Our teachers collaborate to develop learning experiences that challenge, extend and motivate learners through te reo and tikanga Māori.

They work to create a nurturing and secure learning environment where every child feels uniquely celebrated, loved and cared for.

All of our teachers use the philosophy and curriculum of Te Aho Matua as the cornerstone of their practice.
