Uniform and Expectations
We expect that students will have a neat and tidy standard of presentation which will be maintained at all times.
The correct school uniform will be worn appropriately at all times.
We expect hair to be neat and tidy, only school hats to be worn.
Foot wear needs match the conditions and to be worn so it is safe for play and activities outside.
Year 7&8 tamariki need to have black covered footwear. It is essential to have these when going to technology workshops.
Black beanies and jackets may be worn over the uniform on cold days.
Sports uniforms will be provided by the coach or organiser of the activity.
School sun hats are provided by the school. These are expected to be worn every day in term 1 and 4. These are kept at school.
Students should not have or display the following:
Piercings other than unobtrusive ear studs or sleepers. (This is for safety reasons)
Taonga needs to be worn inside the uniform and must be long enough to be inside their school t-shirt. It os recommended that these are taken off during sports games and events. This is an Occupational Health and Safety requirement.
Uniforms can be purchased at The Wharehouse.
We have school hoodie that a group of tamariki designed and had approved by the BoT. These can be ordered with the child’s name printed on them from the school office.
The Year 7&8 rōpu have their own polo short which can be purchased form the school office.
Stationery
School stationery is provided by the school at no cost.
Fees
There are no school fees. Our Board elected to sign into the new donation scheme offered to schools in 2020. This will mean there is no voluntary donation asked for in 2023 and the scheme will cover many activities previously charged for.
Sporting fees need to be paid to the office before the season starts. These are subsidised by the school.
Some extra-curricular chosen by students have a cost to the organisation taking this and Irongate school subsidises these costs.
School trips and camps are usually covered by each syndicate’s budget. Sometimes the cost of transport is met by a school fundraiser and whānau donating towards these.
Enrolments
Enrolments are made through the principal and the school office.
Staff have an enrolment pack for new whānau to fill in.
The principal will meet with whānau to welcome them to our school, talk about our school kaupapa/expectations/routines and whānau can share about their tamariki.
Tamariki turning 5 may come for school visits before turning 5 and spend some time in our Kākano learning space to meet kaiako and tamariki in the learning space and see their routines and expectations. Please let the office know when you are coming.
