Our Kura

Vision

Empowering successful inquiring learners

Mission Statement

Inquiring confident learners through a flexible, connected learning community.

We believe in inquiry based learning and digital literacy as expressed through our connected curriculum. We believe the future holds an exciting challenge for our students. The learning environment we develop will play a vital role in ensuring our students remain open to new ideas, expand their horizons through their own dreams, talents and personal values and key competencies to help them become lifelong learners and effective citizens.

 Ngā Mātāpono

We have a set of guiding beliefs and attitudes that are part of what we believe is important for each child to have so they succeed at school and in the future;

Te Whiringawha

Te Whirinigawha is the way Māori society has organised themselves in a way to create an effective and cohesive society.

Te Whirinigawha is comprised of four strands: Ariki, Tohunga, Mangotoa and Aronui. We use Te Whiringawha in our School to provide a framework to unpack leadership styles and to bring tikanga into the every classroom.  At Riverdale School, we have linked each of the different Whiringa to our Ngā Mātāpono beliefs.
