Board of Trustees – Profiles
He iti tangata, e tupu; he toki, e iti tonu iho

Panguru maunga, he maunga tapu. Iringa kōrero o nga mātua Tupuna. Ko koe ka kitea i tawhiti, e herea rawatia pōtaea e te kohu. Tū tonu mai e ngā whare Tūpuna i runga i nga marae huri noa. E noho, me noho te taumata o te whare, kia puritia ai te tapu me te mana. Ma wai, e taurima nga marae e hora nei? Te tika, te pono, kia mau ki te aroha. Mā ā tātou taitama, mā ā tātou wāhine. E hapai, e tautoko i ngā taumata korero.
E, ko Te Rarawa te tū ake nei, E, ko Ngati Manawa te mihi atu nei.
Tēnā tātou te whānau o Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Hiringa, my name is Llewellyn Wright and I am currently on the Board of Trusties for our kura and have the responsibility as the board chairman.
I have four tamariki that attend our kura, Capri in kura nui, Ari, Iestyn and Ezekiel in kura teina. We also have a beautiful pēpē Heremia who is at home with my wife Whaea Ashaan, who is a kaiako at Te Hiringa. We are all invested in helping our kura to succeed.
I’m really excited for our wharekura status, as it will help us to head in the direction to progress forward and to continue to build our kura for our tamariki. The goal for me is to make sure our kura is a place where our tauira are thriving and happy!
E mihi ana.
He uri tenei nō Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa, Ngāti Porou me Ngā Puhi Nui Tonu. I tipu mātou ko tōku whānau ki
Tokoroa. Kei konei tonu mātou ko tōku whānau e noho ana.
It has been my great privilege and honour to act as a Mātua Representative and contribute to the
whānau voice of our kura Board of Trustees for the past 8 years. I was the Board Chair for my first 6
years on the board and have been a board member for the past 2 years.
My youngest child attended Te Hiringa from Year 1 through to the end of Year 8, and my whānau
and I are eternally grateful for the great start in her education she gained from attending Te Hiringa.
I am currently the “Tāhuhu Rangapū mō Raukawa” (CEO) and a Tokoroa Ward Councilor on the South
Waikato District Council. I feel these roles support my ability to add value at the table as a Parent
Representative, and vice versa.
Although I no longer have tamariki attending the kura, I still have many nieces and nephews who
attend the kura. I am excited for the future of the kura with growth in both our kura teina and kura
nui. As kura whānau, we are lucky to have committed kura leadership, kaiako and kaimahi.
I look forward to continuing to contribute to our kura and kura whānau.
Neirā kā mihi.
Maria Te Kanawa
